Teaching living room vocabulary using basic prepositions

Target Group:

Elementary Level

Material:

Living room and preposition flashcards

Vocabulary:

armchair, cabinet, candle, ceiling lamp, cushions, fireplace, grandfather clock, painting, plant, rocking chair, rug, sofa, table, television, vase, wallpaper

Prepositions - next to, between, in front of, under, on, behind

Process:

Introduce living room vocabulary first and make a revision of pre-learned preposition vocabulary. Let students draw a living room, using maximal 6 flashcards. Divide students in pairs. Student A has to explain his living room to student B. Student B has to draw during the explanation the living room from Student A. He can also ask questions for clarification. After students compare drawings.

Living room vocabulary; spelling; word-picture association; grammar; word-picture recognition; sentence structure; reading; singular and plural; verbs; conjunctions; basic prepositions

Game Idea:

Memory Master - Have the students sit in a circle. Designate one student to be the Memory Master. Arrange the flashcards face up in the center. Each student chooses a flashcard and says the word. They cannot touch the flashcards. After everyone has chosen, the Memory Master must hand the correct flashcards to each student, repeating the words.
