Process:

Introduce animal and farm vocabulary to students. Ask students simple questions such as: What colour is the cow? How many legs has it got? What is your favourite animal? e.g.. Introduce verb vocabulary and ask about capabilities from animals, what they can do and what they can’t do. For lower students you also can write animal and farm vocabulary on the board and students have to stick the correct flashcards above the writing.

Skills:

Animal and farm vocabulary; spelling; numbers; colours; verbs; sentence structure; word-picture association; word-picture recognition; early reading; singular and plural; conjunctions; like and dislike; favourites

Game Idea:

True or False Chairs - Put 2 chairs in front of the whiteboard. Write above one chair- TRUE- the other one –FALSE-. Show a flashcard (quickly) and shout out a vocabulary word. If that flashcard matches the vocabulary word, the students must try to sit on the TRUE chair. First to get to the correct chair gets point.-Hint: have the rest of the team read the vocabulary word again and say if it was true or false (VERY active game).
